Mirabilis NFT Collection
The story begins with…
A wise and ancient tortoise called Mirabilis, who has roamed the earth since the beginning of time. She has been hibernating in the centre of the earth for many centuries and has now emerged to remind the humans that our planet is finite. Her back carries the marvels of the earth as well as some of the curiosities that she has recently discovered.
On her shell she carries 99 imaginary and surreal worlds that capture the beauty of the world, its creatures and quirky elements of life.
A unique, freeform Haiku poem compliments each artwork so that you can gain an insight into the tale behind each Mirabilis. Some of the poems are playful and many explore the more serious aspects of global warming, damaged eco systems and endangered creatures that inhabit the earth.

ABOUT THE MIRABILIS TORTOISE NFT COLLECTION
What is Mirabilis?
Mirabilis is a collection of 99 digitally hand painted imaginary and surreal worlds that exist on the shell of a tortoise.
The Mirabilis collection explores a variety of imaginary worlds that touch on environmental issues, the human relationship with animals, or simply depict quirky slices of life, history, and the future.
Each Mirabilis features a haiku poem under the shell that provides insights into the meaning behind each artwork.Many hours have been spent painting each one with digital pixels on Procreate, making the Mirabilis collection a labour of love.
Rarity
All 99 Mirabilis Tortoises in this collection are unique and rare. They are not computer generated, they are made by hand by painting digital pixels using Procreate. Hours and hours are spent planning the designs, painting the designs and creating the unique Haiku poems that are featured on the shell of each Mirabilis Tortoise.
A limited number of nine ULTRA rare Mirabilis Tortoises in the collection will be enhanced with animations, 3D effects and potentially AR experiences.
To enable you to view Mirabilis in all their glorious detail, each file is 4000x4000pixels and 300 DPI.
The Vision
The vision of the Mirabilis project is to provide NFT collectors with unique, hand made artworks that unite art and poetry together to depict meaningful and imaginative digital creations.
I would like each Mirabilis creation to remind people that the earth is a beautiful, finite planet filled with miraculous creatures. I want to inspire people to pause and admire what we have under our feet and all around us, so that we can live mindful lives and maintain it for future generations.
Giving back
10% of the earnings from the first release of 99 Mirabilis will be donated to the WWF Organisation in Australia.
I have decided to donate 10% of profits to WWF to help conserve biodiversity in Australia and throughout the Oceanic region. I am deeply passionate about the earth that we live on and in particular all the beautiful creatures that inhabit the earth.
Our impact as humans on the earth is accelerating the loss of biodiversity as well as affecting our climate. My art has for many years explored these themes and I now want to help and contribute what I can to make a difference even if it's a small step.
The WWF strives to safeguard the natural world, by helping people live more sustainable lives and taking action against climate change. Which makes it perfectly alined to my values and moral compass.
Genesis Collection
Twenty unique Mirabilis Tortoises will be released in early 2022.
The sales of the genesis collection will help me fund the creation of the 7 ultra rare editions, which are needed in order to convert Mirabilis into a 3D render which will breath digital life into her so she can walk and provide a live animated eco system for the inhabitants on her shell.
Minting
Mirabilis will most probably be minted on the Ethereum Blockchain and are available for purchase as NFTs. There is a chance however that I might decide to use Tezos which is focused on clean energy NFTs.
NFT's digest a lot of energy, I worry about the amount of carbon generated and as I mentioned, I care about the environment. I'm also concerned that it may not be the most effective marketplace, so I am currently investigating the pros and cons.
Giveaways
Mirabilis is not computer generated and therefore takes hours and hours to create. A giveaway will have to be earned. There will be a competition in which artists will be able to submit their own interpretation and version of Mirabilis. More details soon!
Can I merchandise my Mirabilis Tortoise?
The Mirabilis Tortoise is the intellectual property of Sol. You cannot sell or distribute Mirabilis Tortoises artwork or designs in any way.
Can I resell my Mirabilis Tortoise?
Yes. You can resell your Mirabilis Tortoise on NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea. If a Mirabilis Tortoise is resold, there will be a 8% royalty fee. Sol has pledged to donate 1% of future royalties to WWF.
What’s the environmental impact of Mirabilis Tortoise?
I’m currently researching this area to find out just how much environmental impact NFTs have. There will be a plan to offset the carbon footprint that Mirabilis Tortoises have, so watch this space.
How do I purchase a Mirabilis Tortoise?
There are only 99 available so you will have to be quick or you will out!
Mirabilis Tortoises will be available to purchase from OpenSea, make sure you have a compatible wallet with some ETH to make your safe transaction on the release date.
About the artist
Mirabilis Tortoises are created by Sol. A multidisciplinary artist living in Sydney Australia. Her artistic inclinations began the moment she was able to pick up a coloured pencil, formally trained as a Fine Artist and Graphic Designer. She explores a variety of mediums to create artworks that explore themes that are environmental in nature, and that focus on the relationship that humans have with all of the creatures and flora on this planet.
